The cook Suzi Holtzhausen has created a real jewel for local food with Gaaitjie. Vegetables and herbs come from her own garden and even the salt is extracted by Suzi herself, in the salt pans near Velddrif. This love for the ingredients and the regional cuisine can definitely be tasted with every fork. Our absolute favourite dishes are lobster soup and springbok carpaccio. And if that were not enough reasons for a trip to Gaaitjie – the view is the icing on the cake: an unbeatable view of the sea!
